4 albums of grim darkness.

ensepulchred - the night our rituals blackened the star

Ensepulchred pull off that USBM style stuff, but with a more organ driven sound. This 3 piece cuts though 9 song in just over 38 min. Very cold and chilling sound that doesn't come off as being too cheesy.

wolfmangler - dwelling in a dead raven for the glory of crucified wolves

Wolfmangler is an assault of bowed double bass, electric bass, and violin merge with growls and whispered lyrics. This 4 piece twisted blend of folk and doom slowly crawls its way through 51 and a half minutes with 6 songs.

dead raven choir - sevenfold songs of death

Dead raven choir is the solo assault of D. Smolken. DRC brings you 30 minutes of white noise and distortion laced guitars with unintelligible vocals underneath. A lot of people wouldn't really recommend this album for his first, but since I love harsh noise as well as black metal I thought it was great. Very uncompromising and hard to take it, which is what makes this album one of my favorites.

Wyrd Visions - Half-Eaten Guitar

Wyrd Visions is a one man solo acoustic out of Canada by a man called Colin Bergh. WV originally started as a black metal cover band, but Bergh started also writing his own material. Half-Eaten Guitar is full of repetitive riffs, slow builds that never quite climax and meditative, trance-inducing vocals. One of the songs on the ep is a cover of Mayhem's - Freezing Moon. Half-Eaten Guitar is a long ep. 41:15 with only 5 songs. This album is my favorite of the 4 I just upped. Every listen I just get lost in the dual layered vocals and repetitive guitars.
